Editorial Design — School Project #1

Assignment focused on the use of grids and treatment of text mass.

A rational, rectangular approach was chosen for the layout design, keeping in mind the readability of the text as well as the need to keep it light on the eye. The decision to use black an white was made to match with the cold approach to the layout.

This assignment proposed the creation of an "editorial music video", transferring the emotion and ambience of the song into paper. 

The song chosen was "I'm on Fire" by Bruce Springsteen, therefore, American iconography was featured and a calm, intimate narrative laid out, matching the lyrics.

Reinterpretation of Nas' 1994 Illmatic album art. Focus set on conveying the atmosphere of where the musical narrative takes place, leveraging how music can take you through a journey, and augmenting that feeling through imagery.

Gare is a Web and Editorial project, regarding the concept of "Border/Frontier". To portray that, we decided to go with the border of time: Present Vs. Past — or rather — what was Vs. what is. 

As such, we set out to find abandoned and deactivated Train Stations in a 60km radius around our college.
